It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hal Trites on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 59. Hal is pre-deceased by his beloved parents, Hazen & Ellen Trites, and by his sister, Pam Trites. He leaves behind his loving wife, Samantha Beeson, as well as his brother Kal (Val) Trites and his estranged sister Tammy McInroy, along with his niece Samantha Trites and extended family members, many friends, and colleagues who will cherish his memory.

Hal spent many years in the transportation industry. He was the former owner of 9’s Taxi and worked as a coach bus driver for several companies, including Foley Bus Lines, 417 Bus Lines, Franklin Bus Lines, and Parkhurst School Bus Lines. Throughout his career, he enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life and took pride in the work he did.

Hal was a proud Legion member & Past President, an outdoorsman at heart. He loved spending time boating, four-wheeling, fishing, and deer hunting. Whether on the water, in the woods, or gathered with friends around a card table, Hal enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid hockey fan and never passed up an opportunity for a good game of poker and good company.

Hal will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of adventure, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. His laughter, stories, and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will take place at the White Building, 617 Louisa St. Tweed on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm with Words of Remembrance & Tributes at 2:00pm.
