It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Hogg announce his passing at the age of 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Louise of 54 years and daughters Sharon and Valerie.
Henry grew up in Chatsworth, Ontario and came from humble beginnings. He had a strong work ethic, supporting his family while receiving top marks in high school. He was very proud to graduate from the University of Waterloo with an engineering degree.
Henry’s early career was in the corporate world, but he recognized he didn’t like working behind a desk. He enjoyed having a boat and motor and with his mechanical engineering background came to the decision to own a marina. He uprooted his family and moved to Cloyne to take ownership of Pine Crest Villa (Pine Crest Marine).
Henry realized the marina was a seasonal business and pursued various jobs before landing on being a school bus driver. He eventually took ownership of the bus line (North Addington Bus Lines).
If owning two businesses wasn’t enough, he decided to enter local politics as a councillor to get involved in community issues. He was first elected to municipal council in 1985. This early start in politics became a political career with many terms as Reeve of Denbigh, Abinger & Ashby which became the amalgamated township of Addington Highlands. He was also proud to serve as warden for the County of Lennox & Addington 5 times. A highlight was his involvement in the creation of the Lakelands Family Health Team.
In recent years Henry’s health declined but his mind was very sharp. His love for politics kept him going. His crowning achievement was to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal in a ceremony on May 10th, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 8, 2025 at the Flinton Hall from 10:00am to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society of Canada would be appreciated.
